As Southwest Monsoon Pours Heavy Rain, MCGI Celebrates the Pouring of Biblical Wisdom as its 3-Day Feast of God Kicks Off

October 2, 2015

Who can stop a thankful heart?

Southwest monsoon, colloquially known as “habagat,” makes commuting more grueling to the already heavily-traffic Northern Philippines. Braving the heavy rain are the tens of thousands members of the Church of God International to join the hundred thousand others worldwide for the international thanksgiving to God.

The thanksgiving celebration is also felt online as celebrants post photos and tweet updates of the ongoing event with the hashtags #HappyPNK and #HappyITG. (Image by MCGI Facebook page)

The 3-day event kicks off today at exactly 6:00 a.m. Philippine time, simultaneously monitored in all time zones through the 1,361 satellite-dependent monitoring centers. More locales are connected through the Internet. MCGI’s Music Ministry leads the congregational singing. Teatro Kristiyano, the theater-dance group of the Church, later joins the Music Ministry in a festive production number.

Appetizer.  At around 8:00, Bro. Eli Soriano‘s huge smile flashes on the screen, welcoming attendees from every part of the globe. A taste of the overwhelming biblical wisdom being looked forward to in the 3-day event, Bro. Eli shares a tasteful appetizer revealing the time of Christ’s coming that sends brethren and guests alike into cheerful whistling.

Grateful. “I am grateful that I see this day. I am with the congregation in offering thanksgiving to God for many things,” Bro. Eli is especially thankful for the 16,864 new members added from January to September 2015.

The MCGI Overall Servant also cites the growing number of locales in South America. In Brazil alone, there are now 102 established locales including those in Curitiba, Porto Alegre, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paolo, and Espiritu Santo. There are 307 other places that received preaching through DVDs and 58 places by Internet link. Places with ongoing indoctrination currently total to 187.

Latin America records 167 coordinating centers with only three countries left to reach.

Children and Salvation.  Why should children be given high importance? How does salvation work for them? Why does God allow children to die in earthquakes and other calamities?

These and many more questions are not left unanswered in the whole-day discussion of the Day 1 topic.  Bro. Daniel Razon, Supporting Overall Servant, tackles the Bible’s standpoint to explain the lead-off questions of the topic. Bro. Eli wraps up the highlights with surprising biblical wisdom.

  1. Nothing can stop a truly thankful heart.

Because I wore loose slacks, I was soaked from the knees down, drenched wet with squeeking shoes when I made it to the LRT at Baclaran station at roughly 4:50am. The trains were late, and there were a lot of angry passengers. Maintenance couldn’t let the trains go right away because there could have been problems. The rain wasn’t stopping anytime soon that day. Haha. Yes, the weather seemed to be against us.

I knew I had to be there to see it all! – To hear the words of God in its purest, and to give thanks with all our hearts and spirit!

Thanks be to God. The second day just ended. ❤ #HappyITG
