Ms. Fortuna Burke Melhem represented Guinness in the record-breaking attempt during Ang Dating Daan‘s anniversary celebration at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum on October 12, 2015.

“The record for the largest gospel choir was 4,745. Today you have the grand new Guinness World Record title,” Ms. Melhem officially announced that got the crowd on their feet and broke out into ear-defeaning cheers.

The adjudicator also disclosed that Guinness “gets 60,000 applications per year and only a tiny, tiny proportion of those applications are actually welcomed into the Guinness World Records family.”

“It takes an organization that’s very special, very talented and it takes the best in the world to get a Guinness World Records title,” she added.

At around 11:00 p.m. Philippine time, Guinness posted an official tweet.
